The sounds for next week are below:
If you do any home learning please share it with us. We would love to celebrate it in school.
Well done to this week’s Star Readers in Years 3 and 4. Keep up the brilliant work!
Today in maths the children have had a practical lesson on measuring, using resources to measure different items in the classroom. Well done everybody you all worked great in your groups!
This morning in crew we talked about Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Lent and found out why we eat pancakes today. Why not ask your child to explain? We finished the day with a fabulous pancake tasting session. Apologies for the chocolate spread, jam and honey stains on your little ones this evening!
To celebrate Comic Relief this year, we are inviting you to come to school dressed in red with a suggested donation of £1.
This years merchandise includes many different Mr Men and Little Miss characters.
As part of Red Nose Day we are launching our very own Design a T-shirt Competition!
If you want to take part, all you need to do is design your very own Red Nose Day t-shirt and bring it with you on Friday 17th March.
Get creative and design it in any way you want! You might want to draw a picture, paint it or even create a t-shirt you can wear on the day.
Each crew will vote for their winning design to be entered into a whole school competition. Have you got what it takes to be our winning design? Good Luck! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
What a fantastic hook back into our learning after the half term holidays we enjoyed this afternoon. Mr Lamb, who had already given us the benefit of his expert knowledge about castles earlier in the year, came into school to explain what being an opera singer entails. He talked us through the process of learning and practising a song, and showed us the costumes and make-up he wears when performing. We joined in with some vocal exercises before Mr. Lamb performed part of ‘Toreador’ from the opera, Carmen. The children were transfixed! They then were allowed to try on some of the hats and masks that Mr Lamb wears. What an amazing experience. Thank you so much Mr Lamb.
We welcomed a fantastic visitor today, who talked to us about his career as an opera singer. As music was our first case study, Martin really helped to further our knowledge in this subject and we were blown away by his voice…literally! I think it’s safe to say the children enjoyed it very much!
Here is the article in Thorne Times to celebrate last terms learning for ’How do we care for bears?’
Although all of the children couldn’t be in the photograph, we are very proud of each and every child in the EYFS Crew for their beautiful and kind work.
Well done everyone!
On the Friday we broke up for half term, I had the privilege of taking some of our KS2 Choir to Young Voices at the Utilita Arena, Sheffield. It was lovely to see lots of new friendships being built and children supporting and encouraging each other. A HUGE shoutout for the superb behaviour too which was shown by the children, they represented our school brilliantly.
Thank you to all of the adults that supported the event either buying tickets, coming along to watch the show or collecting children from school afterwards it is greatly appreciated!
Myself, Mrs Faulding, Mrs Cook, Miss Nolan and Miss Kelly even enjoyed singing along and learning the dance moves too – we were all very proud and already looking forward to next year!
Well done everyone! x
