Fab First 2 Days in Class 6

We’ve been having a wonderful time in class 6 since coming back to begin the summer term We had some marvelous mathmeticians with hugely improved scores in our weekly Magic Maths test and we were introduced to our final Y1 expedition – North, South, East, West. Where will your journey take you?

So far we have watched a film clip of Paddington’s journey to London from Peru and then drew pictures of him to add to different destinations, and in today’s activity we began by going on an open-top bus tour of some of London’s most famous landmarks and then made collages of the 3 monarchs’ incredible journeys that we will be learning about – Henry VIII, Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II.

Thanks to Mrs Clay and Mrs Stone our classroom already looks amazing but we can’t wait to see our own artwork proudly displayed.

Watch this space for the rest of the week’s activities!

Extended Study – World Art Day!

World Art Day is a day dedicated to creating and celebrating all types of artwork.

By celebrating World Art Day, it is hoped that this will encourage creativity, teach people about different artists and share a love for art all over the world.

It is celebrated each year, on 15th April, which is believed to be the birthday of the world famous artist, Leonardo da Vinci.

How many famous artists do you know?

Activity: Cubism colouring

Cubism is an art movement that shows people or objects from lots of angles at the same time. It often makes the artwork look broken up or like it is made from cubes.

Pablo Picasso and the artist George Braque invented Cubism as a new form of art.

Have a go at creating your own cubist artwork with an object from your home by drawing it from many angles or print and colour the cubist guitar below.

Bring your completed artwork to share in crew next week!
