Well done to our ’Out of this World’ winners for this week. It sounds as though you have had an amazing week!
Well done to Blake who has managed to pick up some trophies for his local football team. Keep it up!
This morning, Y6 were given their leavers hoodies and modelled them perfectly in the sunshine! Looking stunning Y6!
In our expedition lessons, we have been looking at how the Earth’s crust is made up of these things called tectonic plates. We have been looking at where the different plates are and how they can cause natural disasters such as earthquakes.
In maths this week, we have been continuing our work on coordinates. We have been looking at translating shapes and moving them across the grid to a new position.
Today Class 6 are enjoying finding out about the history of space travel and are taking notes about what they have found out.
In class 9 this week we have introduced a new class book called ’The Queens Hat ’ Linked to our expedition. The children then worked hard to re-write their own stories based on the new book but changed the title to ’The kings Crown’
I can’t wait to see the final write ups, you all made a great start on your stories, really proud of you all! 😊
We had a great family learning last week and all of the teachers were so impressed with those of you that managed to escape the volcano!
Here is a lovely video of all the photos we managed to capture!
Thank you to all those that were able to join us for the fun!
All of the staff and children were blown away by this fabulous piece of work that our Charlotte has spent many hours creating at home after being inspired by our latest expedition, North, South, East, West. Where could your journey take you? In our second case study we have been learning about the inspirational life of Mae Jemison, the first black woman to travel into space.
Charlotte created her ‘sew-lar’ system using felt, buttons and sequins whilst also learning lots of different embroidery stitches. The attention to detail is astonishing…it even has accurate constellations and Jupiter’s famous red spot, a storm that scientists believe has been raging on the planet for at least 300 years! (She also included Pluto, as she has learned that it is no longer classed as part of our solar system due to it being too small and she felt sorry for it!)
Why not ask your children to tell you some of the facts they have learned? They really do love sharing their learning with you.
Carry on aiming for the stars you fabulous little humans and who knows…one day you might go there for real 🌟
