We have had a fabulous first day as a new crew. We have fitted in so much to our day -working collaboratively to break a code to solve a problem, learning about Michael Collins the forgotten astronaut, reading new books and thinking about the skills we each have that can support our crew to be the best it can be.
Thank you for being amazing today; I can’t wait for another great day tomorrow!
Crew Ambler have made a great start to history week today by researching about the forgotten astronaut Michael Collins and the skills he brought to his fellow crew mates.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be prouder of this bunch of superstars, today happened! It’s hard to believe that just 10 and a half months ago these shy, quiet little people came into my classroom, all wide-eyed and unsure of what to expect and look at them now! Confident, polite and hard-working, ready to face the challenges of year two.

Well, what a year it has been. Today Class 6 celebrated their Year 1 Graduation Day! We had a lovely day reflecting on our year and sharing the things we are proud of. Class 6 you have been absolutely awesome and it has been a privilege to be your teacher. Wishing you lots of luck on your new adventure as you enjoy your transition days in Year 2. Have lots of fun, I can’t wait to hear all about it!

History week ‘blasted off’ to an amazing start today as we celebrated the 54th anniversary of the launch of the Saturn 5 rocket and the Apollo 11 mission to land on the moon. We will be following the mission in real time day by day until the actual touch down on the moon’s surface on the 20th of July.
In year 1, we thought about how Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins felt as they embarked upon their historic journey and related this to our giant leap into year 2 and how that made us feel. We talked about the qualities we have developed this year such as kindness, hard work, friendship and resilience, and how we can carry these with us as we continue our own journey through Green Top.
During our transition days we will be studying another famous astronaut, Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space. The other key stages will learn about other astronauts and each will produce a fact file. I can’t wait to see everyone’s efforts!

Kixx Community Summer Staycation activities 2023 at Brooke Primary Academy School, Wike Gate Road, Thorne – Information for parents/guardians/carers
We are pleased to announce that Kixx Community is coming back to Brooke Primary to deliver a wide variety of FREE TO ATTEND activities during the Summer holiday! The activities will take place outdoors and involve a mixture of sport, physical activity, arts and crafts. Each child who attends will access a variety of different activities each day.
Places are available for children on free school meals. Children attending should be a minimum of 5 years old, there are no exceptions. This is due to the physical nature of the activities.
Every child attending will receive a FREE healthy, nutritional lunch and fresh fruit snackks.
Kixx Community sessions will take place for 4 hours between 10am and 2pm on the following dates:

Only book the dates that you are certain your child will be attending. Please do not simply ‘block book’ the whole two weeks. Your booking will be confirmed within 48 hours via email.

WOW! This year has passed so quickly and we have made so many new memories in year 6. We are so proud of each and everyone of the year 6 children and the amazing journey they have been on during their time at Green Top.
