Christmas Family Bingo Tickets still available

On Thursday 7th December, Year 6 will be hosting a ‘Christmas Themed Family Bingo Night’ in the school hall. Last Summer’s event was a huge success and lots of fun was had by all who attended.

This is a family event therefore all children must be accompanied by a grown-up so that they can play the game. Entrance tickets cost 50p per person – a ticket must be purchased for each person attending the event.  Admission is by ticket only.

Due to fire regulations ticket availability is strictly limited.  If you would like to purchase tickets, please send money in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name, class and the number of tickets required.  The Year 6 children will collect money from classrooms and allocate tickets accordingly.

Doors will open at 5:30pm with ‘Eyes Down’ at 6:00pm.

The cards for each game will be on sale on the night and there will be 6 different coloured games during the evening with lots of Christmas / chocolate themed prizes. Bingo cards will cost 20p each or cost £1 a coloured strip for 6 cards. You can even take advantage of our offer of 6 coloured strips for £5! Of course, you can play as many cards as you can manage in each game.

Refreshments will be on sale during the evening and all funds raised are to go towards the Year 6 leavers and end of year celebrations.   A raffle will also be held – if you are able to donate a prize for this it would be greatly appreciated.

I do hope you will be able to support us at this event. The more people who come the better the atmosphere so please do try to fit this event into your diary; get on your Christmas jumpers and come and have some fun!

TOY & BOOK DONATIONS NEEDED FOR EYFS

As part of our expedition next term we are raising money to buy our children traditional tales and some for our community to promote reading for pleasure. To raise the money, we are hosting a used book and toy sale after Christmas. If you are having a clear out before or after Christmas and have anything you are able to donate, we would really appreciate the support. Please bring any donations to Nursery.

Many thanks,

The Pride of Thorne Awards Ceremony 2023 – A KS1 Celebration of Learning

This evening, we are delighted to have held our KS1 Celebration of Learning – the very first Green Top Pride of Thorne Awards Ceremony!

This very special event has brought together nominees from across our local community who have been recognised for their invaluable work both with and for the people of Thorne. From foodbanks to emergency services to care homes … The list and variety of work celebrated this evening was phonomenol and each and every award was so well deserved. Congratulations to all of you!

Special thanks go to our KS1 children and their parents / carers for their ongoing support in both our learning journey towards this event and the success of our event this evening – we really couldn’t do it without you.

A huge thank you and well done from everyone in the KS1 team x

Crew Jackson – Making frames

Well done Crew Jackson! We have had a fantastic day – sawing, sanding, constructing and decorating our wooden frames. I can not wait to your gorgeous artwork, framed as a final product. You have all been super sensible and worked really hard. Thank you for a great day!

Coffee Afternoon / Christmas Jumper Shop

On Wednesday 29th November 2:30 – 4:30pm our Friends of Green Top will be holding a coffee afternoon and running a Christmas jumper shop ready for Christmas Jumper Day!

The Friends of GT can only run the shop if they have jumpers so we would be so grateful for any donations of Christmas jumpers or costumes that you no longer use and could be used by someone else! Please pass on any donations to class teachers.

All are welcome in the hall between 2.30 and 4.30pm to enjoy a coffee and a browse. We look forward to seeing you there!

Class 5’s reading superstar!

Today, I have the absolute pleasure of being in class 5 and to kick start our morning we had Martha showing such courage when she ever so proudly told us about the most recent book she had read. We love Little People Big Dreams and Martha had found one with the stories of Rosa Parks and Gloria Steinem. Martha sat proudly in front of the rest of the class and read, with outstanding fluency and expression, the beautiful stories of these two inspirational women!!!! Well done and a huge thank you to Martha!
