Next week is National Storytelling Week (29th – 2nd) and we will be celebrating lots of our favourite stories in school!
It also means that we will continue our fundraising for a reading vending machine which means the return of …. Crack the Code!!
It will be 50p a go to try and crack the code to the safe full of goodies! We had lots of winners last time – who will be lucky enough to crack it this time?
Good luck!
What a fabulous day we have had! We had our sponsored walk today to raise funds for our Expedition and so that all of our EYFS children can receive a special book at the end of our learning.
The weather was not kind to us 😔 BUT…… When do we ever let the weather get in the way of fabulous learning experiences!
We walked in the hall this morning and this afternoon we managed a few laps around our Reception and Nursery outdoor areas.
We had so much fun! A huge thank you to all the EYFS children for being absolutely amazing and another huge thank you to all of their grown ups for supporting your children and the school with our Expeditions.
You can hand in your sponsor forms with any donations to class teachers.
EYFS Team 😊
Well done to these superstars who are Crew champions this week. They have been showing amazing HOWLs and also been trying hard to display our character traits. We are so proud of you all! Keep up the amazing work.
Reception Team 😊
This morning, the children worked collaboratively to share and construct ideas to support them in their writing. Well done everyone – you showed a great understanding of Jim’s feelings when he was first in the workhouse.
If anyone has any materials that could be used to make a bug hotel, please could you bring them into school by next Tuesday (for Year 1) or Wednesday (for year 2). The children will be creating their own bug hotels, which links to our expedition learning. I have put some photographs below for ideas of materials that we could use.
We would appreciate any cardboard tubes, small pieces of wood, lollipop sticks, leaves, foliage, paper straws or any natural materials such as acorns or pine cones.
Thank you so much in advance

On Friday, staff across our Trust gathered to launch the first phase of our exciting new Teaching and Learning model, with a focus on our culture of Crew, underpinning principles, deliberate & intentional teaching/learning behaviours at its heart…
Staff from our secondaries and primaries grappled with this exciting new model and took part in a wide range of workshops to develop teaching and learning at XP.
More on this next week…
In Autumn 2023, Years 5 and 6 completed an expedition looking at the impact we are having on the planet and what we could do to make a difference now and for future generations. They held their presentation of learning last week!
Their final product for this expedition was a picture frame made from sustainably-sourced materials. Students then chose their favourite piece of writing from across the expedition to publish in the frame alongside (or behind) a simple piece of artwork reflecting elements of our learning. Beautiful work!

The children have been using fantastic vocabulary to create setting descriptions for their new reading text ‘The Tin Forest’.
Their independent writing blew me away! They used adjectives to create expanded noun phrases and are beginning to read and edit their own work…Great work guys! Well done!
