Class 10 Visit to GT Library for Reading Week!

To mark the end of reading week, last Friday, Class 10 paid a little trip to our brand new school library. Once again, we were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, take a look at the books that interested us and listen to a lovely story. How lucky we are to have such a wonderful space in which to enjoy so many exciting reads!

Class 10 – Reading Week’s BEST bit!

Without a doubt, Class 10’s best bit of their reading week was having not just one of our fabulous reading ambassadors pay a visit at story time but also the wonderful, the amazing, the fabulous … Mr G!!! Of course, all of the children were super thrilled to have a special story from their Year 2 teacher, Mr Gerrard and who knows … perhaps he’ll pop in and gift us with his presence once again??? Let’s hope so!

Nursery- Young Minds

Thank you for sending children to school wearing something yellow today.

Today we looked after our minds and mental health by playing outside in the fresh air, play ice cream shops and talking about our favourite flavour ice cream and playing with our friends.

Have a great weekend everyone

Crew Ambler – Green Top Library

As part of reading week, we spent our crew session in the new Green Top Library. The children are loving exploring new books! Shout Out to Miss Knowles for making our Library look amazing for our children!

Well done to the Y4 football team

A huge well done to those who took part in the first LKS2 Legacy tournament at Owston Park. It is safe to say that all the children had a great time and demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship. I was particularly impressed with the courage and confidence in those children who do not play football outside of school. Well done for reaching the QUARTER FINALS against some very strong teams.

Nursery- Reading week

Yesterday the Nursery children enjoyed two stories. In the morning we listened to The Scarecrows Wedding, which linked with our phonics to ring rhyming words. In the afternoon we enjoyed Hamish the Highland Cow, which belonged to Oliver. He very kindly shared the story with his friends and we all loved hearing a new story.

I wonder what stories we will hear today?

Reception Phonics

This week in phonics has been our consolidation week so we have not learned any new sounds but have been practising the ones that we already know.

The sounds taught so far are s/a/t/p/i/n/m/d/g/o/c/k/ck/e/u/r.

If you could look through all of the homework sheets sent out so far and read through the sounds and the green words with your children this will help them to retain those sounds and begin to blend those sounds to read words.

We will have new sounds and a new homework sheet next week.

Thanks for supporting your children.

Year 6 – Guess the sweets!

It was so lovely to receive this wonderful letter about our Year 6 children. During the transition event at Axholme Academy, the maths department had a guess the number of sweets in the jar competition. What a surprise that one of our children was the closest in their guess! Carter has gone home today with a bag of sweets, certificate and a copy of the letter. Well done!
