Expedition fact files

Here are a few examples of my crew’s hard work in expedition this week. They researched their chosen country, planned it out in groups, wrote it up, edited and then completed their final copies.

I am proud of the pride they have in their presentation and the effort that went into producing them.

What fantastic learning! Well done, I am proud of you all.

Book recommendations

Year 2 today had time to read a book for their own pleasure. It gives them a chance to choose what they want to read, where they want to read and how they want to read it. At the end of the session they share the book that they read and say what they enjoyed about it and whether they think other children would like to read it.

It was lovely to hear such enthusiasm for reading.

Keep it up guys

Spelling practice

Class 9 have been writing suffix words with the ly endings and learning the different spelling rules for them. Here, they were given 5 minutes to write as many suffix words as they could and as you can see…every child was on task and improving their spelling with every word…well done crew!

What fantastic collaboration

This afternoon class 9 worked collaboratively with a partner on reading comprehension. I was super impressed with their fluency skills and blown away at how they confidently located and explained the answers to each other. Keep it up guys!

We are geographers!

Today we have spent the morning researching the countries of Sri Lanka and Jamaica. We have found out lots of interesting facts – especially all about the foods they like to eat! I can’t wait to read everyone’s fact files at the end of the week.

Keep up the hard work Class 9.

Year 2 enjoy National Walking Week

On Friday afternoon the year 2 children enjoyed the fresh air whilst walking laps around the playground as part of National Walking Week. We talked about the benefits for our well being including opportunities to enjoy being outdoors, catch up with friends as we walk and feel the sunshine and fresh air around us. The children loved it and many walked (and ran!) far more than the target of 5 laps each.

Class 9 out of this world

This week Millie was chosen for out of this world due to her positive learning attitude and hard work. She is always thinking about how she can improve and achieve green standard. We are super proud of her and she fully deserves to wear the yellow t’shirt.

What a superstar!
