Class 8 really enjoyed making their houses, that we used today to deliver our fire safety session. They worked hard to make them look traditional in style. Well done class 8! They look amazing on display in our corridor!

This afternoon, Year 2 worked with our resident fire-starter Mr Kershaw to recreate the Great Fire of London on the playground. We lined up our box model houses and watched as the flames crept from house to house, fanned by the warm air and wind – just like in 1666! Then we created fire breaks, just like they did in the real fire, and we saw how this helped to stop the fire from spreading.

Today year 2 have had a visit from two local PCSO’s this morning. They told us how to help and support our local community and what they do to keep us safe. The children have asked some great quesitons and have really enjoyed the visit. Thank you PCSO Ben!

Class 8 used ipads yesterday to take a photo of some of their art work or a picture that links to the Great Fire of London and then with a partner they inserted it onto a new slide. They then learnt how to add a text box and wrote a title on the slide. We are going to be learning a lot more skills on our ipads but I was very impressed with their Stickability Stan attitudes. Well done Class 8

We took a lovely walk to Thorne library this morning to enhance our Reading week. We had such a fantastic time there and and the librarians were so welcoming. The children got to choose a book to read for their own pleasure…something that interested them. We then had a chance to share some books that they wanted to recommend to their friends. We looked at non-fiction books about prehistoric animals and space, as well as a couple of pictures books; one about nature and another about owls.
The children have been given a form if they would like to sign up for the library and I would love to hear if any visit again during half term.
They made me feel very proud of their great manners and respect for the library, as well as being so sensible, walking through Thorne

In club today KS1 have been improving their skills in number bonds to 10 and 20, finding missing numbers, using TT rockstars and Numbots. Well done everyone!! 😊

Class 8 have had such a fantastic morning in our drama workshop today. We had a fantastic lady who was in role throughout the session, talking about the great fire of London and recapping the children’s learning whilst adding to it with the great knowledge that she had on the subject. She pretended to be a baker at first and then became Samuel Pepys. The Children were answering and asking lots of questions and she was very impressed with what they knew. They did their own freeze frame pictures and acted out a story in groups, as well as singing rounds of London’s burning! We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and got so much out of it! Well done class 8, I am so proud of your learning on this subject!

Class 8 have written their final drafts today and I was blown away with their editing skills. The pride that they are beginning to have in their work has improved massively already and I am so proud of all of them. Their vocabulary choices are fantastic and I am so impressed with their editing skills. Well done class 8!

We have had a visit from some local police officers this morning. They brought a huge police van and they showed us how they use their police drone to help find people that might need help. We’ve had a great time and we have learnt so much about how the police can help us.
