This morning, as part of our SATs revision, we used some great online games that allowed the children to select and practice some of the KS2 spelling patterns. If you google ‘topmarks spelling frame’ this will take you to the correct website.
Please encourage the children to log on at home and keep practicing in the run up to their test on Monday morning!
As we approach the end of the academic year, it’s time for our Year 6 students to undertake their SATs. SATs week starts on the 13th of May and finishes on the 16th of May. On these days, doors will be open from 8:15 with all children expected to be in school by 8:30 as usual. We will provide some breakfast options such as cereal bars to ensure they start their day well and are ready to tackle the challenges ahead. It’s essential that they arrive on time to reduce any stress that they might experience from rushing.
We understand that this can be a stressful time for both students and parents, and we want to reassure you that we will be on hand to provide guidance and support throughout the week. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions.
We would also like to let you know that on the 17th May (Friday), to acknowledge the hard work of our Year 6 students, we have arranged for the children to have bacon sandwiches at the start of the day in addition to a visit from the ice-cream van on Friday afternoon. Y6 fundraising will cover the cost of these treats, so you do not need to send any money.
We believe that it’s important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students, and this treat is just one small way of saying well done for their effort and commitment.
Thank you for your ongoing support. You will find a brief overview of the week below:

Following the Year 6 visit to Crucial Crew on Monday, a useful handout about keeping safe around dogs has been shared. Please share and discuss with your children.
Y6 visited the Lifewise Centre today to participate in the Crucial Crew programme. The Lifewise Centre provides the children with essential knowledge and skills to be able to keep safe in the local community.
Some of the different scenarios included road safety, transport safety, fire safety and a mock trial in a Magistrates’ Court! All of the scenarios are taught by volunteering experts from South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership.
The children participated in all of the scenarios showing real maturity and thoughtfulness. Check out the slide show below.
A massive shout out to all the year 6 children that achieved 100% attendance during the Spring Term. Huge congratulations to Jamie who was the winner of the Easter attendance raffle in year 6.
Enjoy your Easter holidays and lets aim for even more children achieving 100% next term!

I can’t believe the amount of wonderful character spoons we had fetched into school as part of our World Book Day competition! The creativity and effort that has gone into each and every one is amazing!
The Learning Council judged the spoons this morning but it was such a hard choice that we have ended up with 8 winners instead of 4!
Watch this space to see the winning spoons tomorrow …
In Year 6 we don’t let a busy morning of 2 maths SATs papers and an afternoon of writing stop us – we power on and show exceptional HOWLs at learning club too. Mrs Rafferty and I were blown away with the hard work and dedication of the group of children that stayed after school yesterday to practice their maths reasoning skills ready for this morning’s final maths assessment. Well done guys – you are awesome!
