Reading Rocks!

Well done to Thea and Robyn who have shared their reading stone art with us today … Can you guess what their favourite books are?

World Bee Day

In crew this morning we talked about world bee day. We learnt lots of new facts and why bees are so important to us. I wonder if anyone can plant some bee friendly plants?

Year 2 enjoy National Walking Week

On Friday afternoon the year 2 children enjoyed the fresh air whilst walking laps around the playground as part of National Walking Week. We talked about the benefits for our well being including opportunities to enjoy being outdoors, catch up with friends as we walk and feel the sunshine and fresh air around us. The children loved it and many walked (and ran!) far more than the target of 5 laps each.

Pyjamarama in Class 8!

Class 8 looked fantastic in their PJs and book character costumes today. Well done to everyone who took part 🙂

We also enjoyed a few laps of the playground to celebrate National Walking Week … and all this before Funky Friday!

Community Crew – Mental Health Awareness Week

In community crew this week, we talked about how nature can make us feel happy and improve our mood. We discussed loads of different ways we can experience nature and that everyone will have something different they like about it. Some of the children liked to go on bikes rides, go to the beach, visit the allotment or care for animals. We also talked about how nature can make us feel better but it doesn’t always solve the problem. It was great to hear all the children share how important it was to talk to a trusted adult about their worries.

Get your passports ready…

Year 2 expedition morning video

I am blown away by the fantastic learning that has happened in year 2 this morning. Our second case study for our expedition is geography and the children got a chance to try a range of foods from different countries around the world. They explored the country’s flags and learnt how to say ‘hello’.

They also did some research on the countries to record in their own passports and created a mind map of words to describe the food they tasted.

Some foods were a hit like apples and maple syrup but the olives didn’t go down too well!

Super learning today year 2, it was so lovely to see!

Around the World in Little Bites

Wow! What an adventure Y2 have enjoyed this morning … we have been zooming around the world to learn about the different countries in our new English text, How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World. We even managed to do a spot of food tasting as well. The apples with maple syrup in Canada were delectable but we weren’t so keen on the olives from Italy!
