Children’s Mental Health Week

In community crew this week we listened to a story all about teamwork. We discussed how the characters worked well as a team and what happened when they didn’t. We then thought about the teams we are in at school and how we have lots of opportunities to work collaboratively and how we can try to be good teammates. We then created a piece of artwork linked to this years theme of growing together.

Year 2 Spellings w.c. 7.2.2022

This week, Year 2 are practising their common exception words. These are words that children should be able to both read and spell fluently by the end of Year 2. We will be having a spelling test on all of these words when we return after half-term so please practise over the holidays and then we will know which of the words we need to continue practising in class.

Class 7 Celebrations

Shout outs today go to Poppy for more fantastic home learning artwork, as well as Annabel and Rowan who are today’s learning legends!

Class 7 have had a very busy day learning all about geography and thinking about the continents and oceans of the world.

Class 7 at the Deep

A huge shout out to all the boys and girls in class 7 for their fantastic behaviour at the Deep yesterday. We were all mesmerised by the sea creatures we saw and the knowledge that the children could share and apply to the experience was amazing. Well done everyone – I was so proud of you all! Local expert visit – Nick Fletcher M.P.

KS1 were very grateful to local M.P., Nick Fletcher, who visited our school this morning to talk with us about littering and pollution in Doncaster.

We gave Mr Fletcher an advanced screening of last term’s final product, a video showcasing our expedition learning about everyday superheroes, and he answered some of our questions.

We learnt about the 30by30 initiative, an alliance made by 71 countries to protect at least 30% of the global ocean by 2030. The initiative is led by the UK and you can find out more at: https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/global-ocean-alliance-30by30-initiative/about

Mr Fletcher also urged us to consider how we can reduce plastic before the need for recycling, encouraging us to choose foods and items with either no packaging or more eco- friendly packaging. For example, choosing an apple over a bag of crisps or a glass bottle of pop as opposed to a plastic bottle.
