Well done to our Y6 children who took part in the pyramid benchball competition on Wednesday at Trinity. Out of 8 teams competing we finished 3rd and 4th respectively. Well done Y6, keep your eyes peeled for the next competition!
Year 6 – Our train expert
A massive shout out to Theo’s Mum who came and spoke to the children this morning about her role as a train driver. The children loved hearing all about: the skills needed to be a train driver, what is involved in the day to day job and the importance of train safety. They went on to ask some thoughtful and enquiring questions and hopefully it will have inspired some of our children to set themselves aspirations for a future career. Ask the children if they can remember the importance of 6 sheep to a train driver; this was linked to an interesting but funny fact!
Y5&6 Girls Football
Well done to all the girls who took part in the Thorne pyramid tournament last night at Trinity. It was great to see all the girls enjoying themselves and scoring some wonderful goals. Well done girls, there will be another tournament coming up in the Summer!
Y6 Athletics Champs!
Well done to our Y6 athletes who qualified for the Doncaster finals yesterday at Trinity!
Y5/6 Family Learning
Next week is our Y5/6 family learning session on Tuesday 6th February at 2pm. Please sign in at the office where you will be greeted by our student ambassadors. Don’t forget to bring your artistic flair!
Year 5/6 – Community Meeting!
On Monday, we had our first Community Crew Meeting since Christmas, it was lovely to see everyone together again and celebrate the great start to our learning in Spring term!
A huge shout out to everyone who received HOWL point certificates and especially our Crew Champions! An added shout out to Miss Barnett’s Crew for their impressive Howl point total!! I wonder if anyone will top it next week?!
Year 6 – Get ready for Year 7 maths
This morning Year 6 had a teacher from Trinity come and lead a maths session on simple algebra. It was fantastic to hear what a great impression the children made on their potential secondary school maths teacher; they demonstrated a hard-working attitude and a high level of respect. Well done everyone!
Year 6 Harry Potter Studios Visit
Last week we had the most amazing day at Harry Potter Studios – exploring the set, seeing original props and costumes from the films and participating in interactive experiences. Check out the many photos taken on the day using the link to the folder – can you spot yourself on a broomstick playing quidditch?

Year 6 Harry Potter Watercolours
This morning in Year 6 we have explored using different watercolour techniques to create effects. After exploring and having a practice, we went on to create the night sky behind a Hogwarts silhouette. We are yet to complete them; I can’t wait to see the final pieces later this week.
Our amazing year 5 and 6 art gallery
Last night we held a wonderful art gallery to celebrate our expeditionary learning. The children’s artwork looked amazing displayed in frames they had made and decorated themselves. It was fantastic to see so many members of our families join us in the hall last night to share in the children’s learning journey. There were many proud faces – both children and adult – along with lots of words of praise for the children’s achievements. Thank you for the donations made; we will be giving this to the World Wildlife Fund to support endangered animals.
