This week we finished our rainbow tropical rainforest birds and worked on creating sloth artwork!
UPDATED:Y6: Secondary school transition events
Hi,
I am aware that the school year has only just begun for our year 6 children however open evenings for secondary school choices are fast approaching due to the secondary school application window closing on the 31st October. I have added a list of the open evenings I am aware of so far:
Ash Hill Academy- Tuesday 26th September 4pm- 7pm
Trinity Academy- Thursday 28th September 4:30 presentation and one at 5:30
South Axholme- Thursday 21st September- 5:30-8:00pm
The Snaith School- Thursday 5th October, time 4:30 onwards
XP Doncaster- Tuesday 26th September 4pm- 6pm
The Axholme Academy- Open evening Wednesday 20th September 6-8pm or open mornings on 22nd and 25th September (please call 01724 710368 to book a place on the open morning events)
I will continue to blog dates of other open evenings as soon I as receive them

Y5/6 Arts and craft club
What a fab time we had in club tonight creating our rainforest birds. Well done everyone x
Year 6 – Walk to the woods
This afternoon year 6 enjoyed a lovely walk to Thorne Community Woods as part of their hook week learning. Despite everyone being rather warm and tired on the way back, it was lovely and cool whilst in the shade of the trees in the the woodland.
VR workshop- The Amazon
Today we were lucky enough to experience VR and bring our learning to life! From ants scurrying on the forest floor to gazing at sloths within the trees, we were able to learn about the four layers like we were there- amazing!
National Read a Book Day!
Tomorrow (Wednesday 6th September) is National Read a Book Day!

Fantastic morning – crew checkin, aqua park fun with many overcoming their fears, picnic lunch with complementary chips followed by crew debrief!
New to Y6- Camp/ Rother Valley Kit list
Hello Y6,
I hope you are having an enjoyable Summer break and you’ve had chance to recharge. The Y6 staff are really excited to welcome you back next week; in the meantime I am sending out a kit list in preparation for our exciting plans for your first week in Y6! As you will remember, we have an action-packed day planned at the gorgeous Rother Valley Country Park followed by an overnight camp on the school grounds.
