This week the children were excited to find lots of Autumn leaves in our outdoor areas.
In our Phonics labs we often practise recognising and writing the letters we have been learning. We are getting better and better every day and we love this activity. We play some gentle music for 5 minutes and the children walk around the room, find a letter and practise writing it three times. We continue until the music stops.

After our phonics learning some of the children chose to use whiteboards and pens to practise their skills.

Well done everyone for working super hard in Phonics labs.
On Friday morning we had a visit from Pastor Kevin who came in to talk to the children about Harvest. The children loved dancing to his songs and enjoyed making animals sounds too. We learned about giving thanks for the things we have. It was so much fun.
Thank you for coming to visit us Pastor Kevin! We hope you will visit us again in the future.

The children in Reception have loved learning about the Hindu celebration of Diwali as part of our Literacy Labs and Expedition lessons. The children have been able to use new vocabulary and talk about the meaning of the words. Here are some photographs of the work the children produced Rangoli patterns, Diwali cards, Diwa lamps and decorated the role play area for Diwali. They even set up their own Diwali party and invited their friends to join them. We have had lots of fun!
Last week we were very lucky to have had Fireman James from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue visit the children to talk about fire safety and how to keep safe on Bonfire Night.
The children thoroughly enjoyed his visit and loved seeing the uniform he wears.
Thank you for coming to see us Fireman James!
On Wednesday 10th November Parents/carers are invited to join their children from 1.30-2.30 for Family Learning.
This will give you the opportunity to join in with the children’s Expedition learning taking part in craft activities.
Please arrive at the hall doors at 1.30 if you are joining us for family learning so we can sign you in.
Once family learning has finished you may take your child home or they can stay for the remainder of their session.
We hope you can all join us
F2 Team
Don’t forget to come in your party clothes tomorrow as we re-hook into our expedition! I can’t wait to see you all looking fabulous as we celebrate each other!
Today we decorated some pumpkins! These pumpkins will be displayed in the Frenchgate Centre along with the pumpkins made by the rest of the school.
This week we have been working on securing number bonds to 5. We played a game where we started with a number of objects, then the children closed their eyes really tight. I hid some of the objects under the cushion and they had to tell me how many were missing. Then they could pick up the cushion to see if they were correct. The children loved this game.
