Well done to those who have taken part in our challenges so far – you’ve done a fantastic job! Here is the challenge for day 4! There are 3 different levels for you to choose from depending on whether or not you want a challenge!
Remember to send your pictures of the things you find to your teachers or to [email protected]
We can’t wait to see what you find on your scavenger hunt!
As day 3 in our nail biting times tables slam draws to a close Crew Schon are still in the lead with an average of 187 correct answers per pupil compared with Crew Rodgers 142. Remember that only questions answered in “Garage’ will count towards our scores. You can also change the length of each game…1, 2, or 3 minutes. Over 2/3 of each class is now playing regularly! What an amazing and fun way to Get Smart in your maths learning! Miss Schon and I are blown away by how enthusiastic you all are about our competition and learning your times tables but please remember to limit screen time and to ensure that you are not allowing other family members to answer the questions for you. Practise really does make perfect. If it is not you who is answering the equations you won’t improve as you should, and will be given tables that do not match your ability. Remember, the competition ends at 8am on Friday morning (3rd February) and a new 12 hour whole-school competition will begin in aid of the NSPCC to celebrate National Number Day. We hope you are having a think about what number or maths based costume you could wear for school on that day.
Choose a random object from your house and count out 100! Will you choose to count 100 pasta pieces, 100 pieces of cereal of even 100 socks!? Be as creative as you want to be and let’s see what 100 looks like!
If you can, put your 100 items in a bag and fetch them to show your teachers! Remember you can always send photographs to your teachers or to [email protected]
So as day 2 of our epic battle comes to an end Crew Schon have edged into the lead with an average of 53 correct answers per pupil compared to 45 for Crew Rodgers. It’s neck and neck with everything to play for. Congratulations to Jack from Crew Rodgers who remains in the lead for the second day, and to Spencer from Crew Schon who has shot up the leaderboard and is snapping at Jack’s heels. Remember every correct answer submitted in the ‘Garage’ section of the game earns points for your crew. How will the results look tomorrow evening? Check in to find out.
Choose one (or more!) of the challenges below to complete at home this week! Don’t forget to get the whole family involved! If your child is in EYFS, please choose some of the activities from the ‘Year 1 and 2’ document 🙂
Remember to send any pictures to [email protected] or to your teachers. We can’t wait to see all of the maths around your home!
At the end of day one Crew Rodgers are in the lead with an average of 17 correct answers per pupil with four days to go. Well done to everyone who has logged on and taken part so far. Keep it up rockstars! We got this!
Work together to see how many maths words you can think of for each letter of the alphabet! I’ll let you into a secret … J is a very tricky letter so I’ll be super impressed if anyone thinks of a maths word starting with J!
Please send your responses to [email protected] and / or bring them in to show your teachers!
We can’t wait to see how many words you come up with and who has the most creative words!
This half term the children have been really enjoying learning the ‘split digraph’ sounds. This week we will learn the final split digraph sound u-e as in ‘huge‘ and ‘cube‘.
The children have continued to impress us with their reading skills during our daily shared reading sessions. Here are the books the children have been leaning to read in school for you to enjoy at home:
Look at these 2 fabulous young men who have jumped straight into their life skills home learning tasks for this term. Eli helped mummy by washing up the breakfast dishes and Charlie certainly knows how to impress by baking these delicious looking cookies and setting a couple aside for me! I can’t wait to ruin my diet with them!
What a great way to Get Smart by doing extra learning at home. 20 HoWL points each for you boys. Well done.
To celebrate maths week Class 6 and Class 7 have been entered into a tournament on TT Rockstars. The battle will commence at 8am tomorrow morning and will run until 8am on Friday. All correct answers the children log between these times playing the game on TT Rockstars will count towards their score in the tournament.
Watch out for more fun maths activities during the week and don’t forget Number Day on Friday where the children are invited to dress up in any maths or number related costumes.
Maths has never been so much fun! Good luck Rockstars!
