The Big Battery Hunt

Big Battery Hunt is back for its second year! - Primary Treasure Chest

What is the big battery hunt?

The Big Battery Hunt is a nationwide battery recycling programme for schools funded by Duracell. Its aim is to increase the number of batteries currently being recycled in the UK. Pupils are challenged to collect as many batteries as they can, encouraging their communities to do the same.

All you need to do is take any unwanted batteries into school and give them to your school councillor. The school council will collect the batteries, keep count of them and recycle them for you. Let’s see how many we can collect this year!

Crew Knowles: World Book Day

We’ve had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day today and I was super impressed with all of the costumes!

We really enjoyed focusing our day around the book ‘You’re called what?!’ and predicting what it might be about! Did you know there is a real animal called a Tasselled Wobbegong? After learning about some of the funny-named animals we researched our own!

Why not listen to the story here?

Year 4 Maths Fun!

Last week, Crew Knowles had lots of fun in maths playing different collaborative games to improve our knowledge of decimals. It’s fair to say that it got very competitive when we were practising comparing and rounding decimals! Well done everyone!

Red Nose Day – Friday 17th March

Red Nose Day 2023: New red nose by iPhone designer - CBBC Newsround

To celebrate Comic Relief this year, we are inviting you to come to school dressed in red with a suggested donation of £1.

This years merchandise includes many different Mr Men and Little Miss characters.

As part of Red Nose Day we are launching our very own Design a T-shirt Competition!

If you want to take part, all you need to do is design your very own Red Nose Day t-shirt and bring it with you on Friday 17th March.

Get creative and design it in any way you want! You might want to draw a picture, paint it or even create a t-shirt you can wear on the day.

Each crew will vote for their winning design to be entered into a whole school competition. Have you got what it takes to be our winning design? Good Luck! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

YOUNG VOICES 2023!

On the Friday we broke up for half term, I had the privilege of taking some of our KS2 Choir to Young Voices at the Utilita Arena, Sheffield. It was lovely to see lots of new friendships being built and children supporting and encouraging each other. A HUGE shoutout for the superb behaviour too which was shown by the children, they represented our school brilliantly.

Thank you to all of the adults that supported the event either buying tickets, coming along to watch the show or collecting children from school afterwards it is greatly appreciated!

Myself, Mrs Faulding, Mrs Cook, Miss Nolan and Miss Kelly even enjoyed singing along and learning the dance moves too – we were all very proud and already looking forward to next year!

Well done everyone! x
