Geography Club!

We are loving Geography club. This is our 3rd week. So far the children have told me in some discussion activities what they think Geography is about, then the children did some research and had to make a poster answering the question ‘What is Geography?’.

Today, we looked at the Earth and discussed what we think it’s like on the inside, some thought it was all liquid, some thought it might be spongy. We found out that it is actually made in layers and these layers are all made of different things! Here they are making a collage model of their learning this week. And they did a fabulous job! We can’t wait for next week!

Class 10: Conductors and insulators.

Testing items around the classroom to see if they were good conductors or insulators was great fun! The classroom had a brilliant buzz (pardon the pun). After making their hypothesis and predictions about the experiment, they cracked on with testing and gathering results. Ask them at home what a conductor or an insulator is and what materials they are. You could also ask them what we mean by a complete and incomplete circuit, I bet they will be excited to tell you, if they haven’t already!

Class 10: curious about circuits!

We have all loved creating and learning about series circuits – the children even managed it all in their own through pure curiosity! I then challenged them further by giving them a switch and an extra wire to see what they came up with.

From there, I then gave the children the task of writing a specific set if instructions on how to build their circuit. This would then be used to support their writing of a scientific report later on. They absolutely smashed this and produced some fabulous writing! We are so proud.

Class 10: Parts of a plant

We had fun in hook week recapping some work on plants. The children got creative by making their own plant and labeling it which have helped to immerse our classroom. They also then had to chance to apply their knowledge to a real life plant we had in the classroom!

Class 10: X-ray art work!

On Friday class 10 had a sneaky peek into their upcoming biology learning! We started by looking at some interesting facts about our hands and feet and the bones that make them up. They then set off on a tricky task of making some x-ray art using chalk, cotton buds and art straws! They all turned out brilliantly – well done all!

I wonder… ask your child about the names of some of the bones and see if they can remember them.
