New to Y1 superstars!

I have been truly blown away by how wonderfully the children have settled in to their new class over the last two days. They have worked so hard to produce work for our pen portrait on Valentina Tereshkova as part of the school-wide history week celebrations and have stuck to the HoWLs and classroom rules that they helped to produce. I hope you all have a fantastic summer and I can’t wait to see you again when you begin year one for real at the end of August.

Great job guys!

History week – Day 1

Today in Reception we began to look into Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 launch. The children really loved seeing the videos of the rocket launch (please see the videos below if you would like to watch them at home). We talked about how the astronauts may have been feeling about the laugh and journey to space and linked this to how we are feeling about the move to year 1. The children came up with: nervous, excited, shy, worried and happy. We then went on to discuss what they would need to pack to take on their journey to year one: Good behaviour, friends, food and brains for hard work.

Reception Graduation Day!

Today we had a beautiful graduation day in Reception. We started the day all together in the hall and watched our end of year videos for the first time. We then had our mini pass out where the children got to have their turn to dance/walk/run down the red carpet and have a photo taken with a cap and scroll. Children will receive these photos on Thursday to bring home.

Reception sports day!

A Huge well done to all of the children in reception today. You made everyone so proud today with how well you did in your races and your sportsmanship towards all members in your crews was lovely to see.
All the staff would also like to say a big THANK YOU to all the parents for your supports today from cheering for the children to joining in with all the activities afterwards. We hope you enjoyed it as much and us and the children did.

Reading books

We will be collecting all home school reading books from Monday. If you would like to continue reading at home there are some lovely online reading books. Please also find previous blog posts that contain links to our shared reader books for you to access at home. We will also be sending home a list of the ‘RED words’ (not decodable) that the children have been learning this year in readiness for Year One, We still need lots of practice with this as these are easy to forget without our daily practice.

The reason for this is so we can complete an audit of the books we have in order to ensure we are able to order any needed in preparation for the new school year.

Thanks for your continued support.
