What a really special day we’ve had today. We were transported back to 1939 and were ‘temporarily’ evacuated for a morning and taken to the local methodist church.
Well done to our children (and their grown ups) for making such an effort on all of the costumes and outfits- they all looked fab and it definitely set the tone for the day and felt like we really were back in 1939!
A special thank you to Mrs Raper who was able to share her mum’s incredible story of being evacuated during the war and building the children’s background knowledge on what happened when children were evacuated.
The children wrote letters to their loved ones saying how much they missed them as well as packing a suitcase and thinking carefully of what to take. Ipads/phones were sadly not an option despite many of them asking about them!
A shout out to the whole of Year 3 for representing Green Top beautifully whilst being out in our community today- you made me very proud!!
