Year 3: RE – Why do Jews celebrate Pesach?

In our Religious Education session this week, we continued our learning about Moses and the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. We learned about their hurried meal of lamb and a flat bread called matzah, and we found out that the Jewish faith remembers and celebrates this important time in their religion via the holiday of Passover (or, Pesach in Hebrew). To consolidate our learning, we sorted reasons for the Exodus into True and False … luckily, we weren’t caught out by any of the red herrings!

We have really been enjoying learning all about the stories of the Jewish religion, why not ask us about how the Jews were told to protect their first born sons from the tenth plague of Egypt?
