Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our phonics family learning this week. We hope you found it beneficial and enjoyed spending time with your children in their phonics groups.
This half term we are having a big push on reading and spelling red words correctly and on improving our reading fluency. These are things you could help you child to practise at home.
All children should now be able to read sets 1, 2 and 3 red words from the red words list and we have been practising spelling these this term.
Remember when you are reading at home please ask children to reread pages/books to help them to develop their reading fluency. We are looking for children to be able to recognise as many words by sight as possible without the need for them to sound them out.
If you missed out on our phonics family learning we would still love you to join us. Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you would like to attend one of our phonics lessons.
This week in Miss Rodgers and Miss Schon’s group we have been learning to recognise /ie/ – ‘Tie your tie’.
Mrs Clay’s group have been revisiting /air/ – Air on hair
Miss Cooper’s group have been learning /sh/ – Sherry Shines her Shoes
If you would like any further support with how you can help your child with their phonics learning at home then please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher.
