Touch down on a fantastic history week.

On this day 54 years ago Neil Armstrong became the first human being to set foot on the lunar surface and children from all of our year groups watched this historic event on the final day of our moon landing history week. Armstrong’s now famous words – That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind – really struck a chord with me and how relatable this was to the first steps our children have made this week into their new year groups during their transition days. As adults we probably see this event as a small step, but to our children it can be a hugely scary giant leap. Thankfully, with the love and support of their families and the wonderfully nurturing way we do things at Green Top, their tentative first steps have been a fun and positive experience, leaving them excited to begin the next chapter of their education.

I really hope this week has inspired the children to aim for the stars, just as Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins did all those years ago.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer break.
