What a fantastic week we have had learning all about castles in week 2 of our ’What lies within the castle walls ?’ expedition. We have been studying the history of castles and learned about chronological order so we could order the different castle types on a time line. To help the children understand what chronology is, we ordered ourselves according to age from youngest to oldest…although the corridor wasn’t quite long enough to put me in my actual position 😁. We went on to discuss the feudal system within a castle and talked about the jobs and roles of each layer of the feudal pyramid – King, Lords, knights and peasants – and arranged ourselves to show what we had learned. The children are really enjoying our expedition so far. Why not ask them to tell you about their learning. I’m sure they would love to share what they know with you.
