  1. Hello children,
The first time I had a pencil in my hand I began drawing cars and planes, even at an early age history interested me, my granddad would tell me stories of German and allied planes he saw when he was a soldier in World War One and my uncle was a sailor on the aircraft carrier Belleau Wood, when he was near the island of Okinawa he witnessed kamikaze attacks from Japanese aircraft.
As I got older I met lots of old airman and I started to paint their planes, I met so many wonderful great men, it felt fantastic that through art I was able to recapture history, I was also able to paint many planes from the British RAF.
I hope that as you do your artwork this week you will realise that you are bringing life to these stories and all the brave people who flew in these planes, that is what I enjoy doing, telling stories that have been told to me, in fact I believe it is something that I have to do.
Thank you, keep your imagination sharp,
    Jack Connelly
