Arithmetic whiz kids

Class 15 astound me with their arithmetic skills. The monthly average in our class is a brilliant 31 out of 40. I was particularly proud of how the children completed the long division questions- a method we only learnt this week in maths block time.

Class 10 love treat Fridays!

Here are some children pictured enjoying our past few Friday treats! (Some children are not pictured in last week’s Ice cream photos as before I had chance to get my IPad out they had eaten them!) I have been quicker this week capturing the children decorating their biscuits!

I am feeling so proud of my class this week because the children involved in treat Fridays (an extra addition to class 10’s funky Friday) are the children who don’t loose minutes and who always follow the green top code. This week ALL class 10 have been able to participate and this makes me so happy! Let’s keep it up!

Have a fabulous half-term and stay safe!

The Stone Age

As part of our theme, we continued researching the Stone Age focusing on stone age homes and also on Skara Brae. Each group watched a clip of The Flintstones and had to figure out which things in the program didn’t belong in the Stone Age. They were quick to spot that dinosaurs and TVs didn’t belong!

As always, they demonstrated fantastic researching and collaborative skills. Well done!

Class 12’s prince charming

Cohen has been feeling very chivalrous. He brought every girl in class 12 a trimmed rose to celebrate Valentines day! They have been very gratefully accepted!

Rounding Decimals

Class 13 had a great afternoon working together to support each other rounding decimals. The children enjoyed leading their own learning and raced through a range of fluency, reasoning and problem solving activities!

Reading collaboration

Class 15 worked hard on inferring our class novel, Skellig. We scanned the chapters for information about Mum’s character and we discussed her thoughts and feelings at particular parts of the story so far.

It is a book we’re really enjoying so far, we can’t wait to find out more about the man in the garage!

Year 6 Rock Stars!

Well done to Jake, Cameron and Savannah who have joined Henry, Martha, Louis, Jayden, Megan and TJ in becoming Green Top ROCK LEGENDS! This means that it takes them less than 2 seconds to answer any times table up 12 x12! Keep on rocking!

Literacy labs

This afternoon class 5 had a go at drawing what the first ever bike looked like. We compared our drawings to a picture of the dandy charger and told our talk partners what was different and what was the same. The children explained their answers really clearly to their partners and shared if they though the bike was safe or not.

Well done class 5.
