Trinity Science Lesson

Yesterday, Y6 took part in a Science lesson at Trinity. The children were hooked into the practical lesson and even had chance to set up and light a bunsen burner. We are looking forward to taking part in the rest of the lesson in a few weeks time.

Science at Trinity Academy

Year 6 had a fantastic morning of science at Trinity Academy. The children were able to be ‘hands on’ with the scientific equipment to complete a range of interesting experiments. The children were very enthusiastic and they are really looking forward to more science lessons in the future. Thank you to staff and students at Trinity Academy for our lesson.

Doncaster Hockey Finalists

A huge well done to our girl’s hockey team that represented Green Top at the Doncaster finals. You demonstrated team work, determination and perseverance. We are very proud of you all!

We help each other to get better!

Class 15 have been working on a formal letter this week. The pictures above show students supporting and critiquing their partner’s work to help them get better. The level of critique and conversation was inspiring and it resulted in some outstanding final touch downs!

Super stars!

Well done to Charley for achieving level three in her swimming last week and well done to Sophia for another fabulous piece of home work! £100 class cash each!

Why are times tables important?

Times tables are a fundamental part of children being confident mathematicians. These calculations will form the basis of much of what they learn in maths right up to (and even beyond) their GCSE courses, such as division, algebra and fractions. The skills also filter beyond maths – and can be particularly useful in sciences, but most of all are useful in daily life.

Once children become fluent in times tables facts, they will begin to gain confidence in other areas of maths; they will see patterns and gain a deeper understanding of fractions, division and ratio to name a few.

At Green Top, we encourage children to develop their knowledge of times tables facts in different ways. We also recommend Times Tables Rockstars to further develop and consolidate their knowledge of the facts. All children have their own unique password and username which can be used at home as well as in school. Please contact your child’s classroom teacher for more information about this.
