Ava and Olyvia’s Homework

Ava J and Olyvia did some amazing angles homework at homework club! They continue their learning from maths by drawing and labelling angles. I was really impressed – well done!

THORNE MEMORIAL PARK POTENTIAL CLOSURE

I have been made aware of a potential closure of the memorial park due to the forecast of high winds.

The Thorne Moorends Town Council Facebook page states

‘Current forecasts suggest that we may experience wind gusts of up to 56mph overnight and tomorrow. If such winds do arise, due to the high number of trees in the park we may need to close access to Thorne Memorial Park for safety reasons. Access to the café however will be maintained.

We know that a number of parents use the park as a shortcut to Green Top Primary School so please potentially plan your journeys on the basis that access to the park may be restricted.’

Bird Beak Investigation.

Class 14 carried out an investigation today to help them understand how birds adapt and evolve. They used a variety of different equipment to act as beaks and competed against each other in a race to collect food. The children had great fun and learned lots about Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.

Bird Beak Experiment

Class 13 carried out a science investigation today where they investigated different ‘beaks’. The children used different tools as beaks to pick up different items – this helped them to understand Darwin’s theory of adaptation!

Theme learning

Class 10 have learnt lots of facts about the history of the Titanic. They then used their knowledge to write letters to their loved ones; pretending that they were passengers on board who had survived. They included what had happened in the build up to the sinking and how they felt. I am so impressed with their efforts and I can’t wait to read them all!

Well done class 10!

Darwin’s theory of evolution experiment

Yesterday, class 15 took part in a science experiment linked to Darwin’s theory of evolution. The activity allowed us to explore a wide variety of beak types that can be seen within the bird population, as well as developing our understanding of the way in which beak shape is related to the available food sources within an environment.

More fabulous homework

Here are some more fabulous examples of homework this morning! I love seeing how much effort the children put into their home learning- £100 class cash for each of you!

Angles in a Name!

We are currently learning about angles in maths and for our introductory lesson we found all of the different angles in our name! I was impressed when the children found reflex and straight line angles!
