Arithmetic challenge

In Class 8 we have been working very hard to improve our arithmetic skills. Fantastic work coaching each other by explaining the methods step by step. Keep up the hard work everyone!

Funky Friday treats!

Here are some photos of Class 10 enjoying their funky Friday treats for the past two weeks for making the right choices all week and following the Green Top code!

Well done my little treasures! You all deserve it! ✨

Inferring from a text

I can’t keep Class 10 away from our book this term! They are really enjoying it. Today, we were focusing on inferring from the text. The children worked in groups to discuss their answers. They all had lots of ideas and it was fabulous to see them all justifying their answers and using evidence from the text to support their theories. Well done Class 10!

Fantastic fractions

Class 5 have worked so hard finding halves and quarters this week. We’ve had lots of collaborative work and great challenges. We could not be more proud of you all. Keep it up class 5!

Feature hunting

The children are loving learning about playscrply! They search so hard to identify and discuss why certain features were needed and why others we are used to using aren’t for this genre.

Factory shop 50 years competition

Class 10 entered the factory shop 50 years competition last week and I am so pleased to say they won the local competition and are through to the next stage (the national competition). They had to create a piece of artwork which represents our community. They included the pit gates, Thorne church, peel hill and the mayors chain. Of course, we added children in green top uniform too! Then the children included self portraits with the quote “we are all different, we are all unique but together  we make a community”.

The children have been invited to a reveal of the art work at the Factory shop where their artwork will now be displayed for all to see. This will take place on Saturday 18th May at 2:00pm.

We are keeping our fingers crossed we win the next round and the prize of £1000 for our school. Well done Class 10, Mrs Clay and I are so proud of you all as always!

Green Top Allotment.

The children had a lovely first trip down to the allotment.   They had a look at what needed doing to our allotment before having a little look at what other people had done to theirs.  In the afternoon they managed to Start weeding some sections and even planted some Spanish onions after a very kind donation.

Identifying features of a play script

Class 10 have been working collaboratively to identify features of a play script. They had to prove the features were in the given text by highlighting it in the same colour it appeared on the opposite sheet. I am very impressed with their knowledge of the features and can’t wait to see these features in their writing later this week!
