Why are you running for your life?

Welcome back Class 11!

What a great start we’ve had to our new theme today!

In Literacy, the children have worked incredibly together to make predictions on their new book “Escape from Pompeii”. In their groups, the children were given different pieces of the front cover and were asked to gather their ideas on what each piece might be about, what it tells us and why. Every time, a little bit more of the front cover was revealed until finally, they were able to uncover our book and its title!

I am extremely impressed with their attitudes towards their learning today and how they have just thrown themselves in to each activity!

Well done everybody! Let’s see what tomorrow brings!

Traffic lights

Using paint and collage this afternoon, the children made some great traffic lights, which we’ve put up in the classroom and I think they look great!

Super start to 2019 guys!!!

First day back!!!!!!

What a fabulous first day back at school! It was so great to see everyone after what seemed like a very long break.

We have introduced our new theme ‘lets move our feet to get green streets’. The children came up with fabulous ways to get our classroom looking more like a street to help with the transport and road safety links.

They made some great collages of bicycles using paper plates and lollipop sticks today with a partner. Make sure you admire their artwork in the corridor!

Cave Paintings

Class 13 enjoyed enhancing our cave environment today by creating some cave paintings. We got in to the spirit by scrunching up paper and drawing upside down / laid on the floor as they probably would have done in the past! It was lots of fun!

Why are you running for your life?

Class 10 have kick started their new theme by making predictions on the content of their book. They were given part images of the front cover and they had to discuss in groups what they thought the picture was. Each time more of the front cover was revealed. I am really impressed with the discussion and answers the children gave and I can just tell this term is going to be amazing!

Please keep checking our blog this week to see our classroom environment the children are working on plus other exciting things the children will be getting up to in hook week!

Creating our stone age environment

After our hook lesson based on our new novel, Skellig, the children are busy creating cave paintings for our classroom environment. Once complete, our classroom will transform into a neolithic cave from the stone age! More pictures to follow…

Beautiful gift to remember Alan

Hi.

Myself & Macy Garth wanted to do a little something in memory of Alan, although it took a little longer than we planned to put together, ( due to the post at this time of year) we hope that this would be appropriate as Alan was cherished by so many, & brought so much pleasure to the school & children.

We thought that this would be a great way for him to be remembered by, as he was never without a bunch of keys by his side

Merry Christmas Class 11!

We have felt all the feels this term- excitement, sadness, feeling proud and perhaps even confusion at times, particularly during assessment week- but what a term it has been!

Despite only joining Class 11 half way through this term, I have been totally blown away by each and every one of the children. I am in awe of how they support and care for each other both academically and emotionally, as well as also being there for me too at times.

I hope that you all have a wonderful and merry Christmas, with lots of rest so that you are raring to go, ready for our new theme in the new year.

See you soon,

Miss Laing
