This afternoon we had a special visitor called Officer Ben. He’s a PCSO in Thorne and he was telling us how to be safe when we are out and about in our local community. He also told us what his role is in Thorne like checking in on elderly people and helping people feel safe in their home by giving out advice.
The children really loved it and asked some great questions. Well done year 1.

Class 13 really enjoyed learning about percentages this week (especially as we used skittles to help us)! Each group worked with the sweets to find the fraction of each colour and then they converted the fractions to percentages. I was super impressed with the enthusiasm and the motivated attitudes to challenge themselves to use different denominators.
A big thank you to Discount Tyres for helping create our immersive classrooms and EYFS outdoors! The tyres are already making great seats and storage!
Some amazing reasoning and problem solving work in maths this morning. The children worked collaboratively and discussed and shared their reasoning behind their answers. They have all blown me away this morning with their time work and I am so proud of them all.
I have set Class 10 the challenge of increasing their accelerated reader scores! Although children can not take accelerated reader books home; most books are available to quiz on, meaning books you have at home could quite possibly be quizzed on by the children when they come into school. Any child who reads at home will be given £100 class cash and entered into our reader of the term challenge! It would be hugely appreciated for your support by encouraging your children to read at home! Just take a look at the impact of reading twenty minutes per day!
Thank you,
Miss Blackham
Maddy is a little super star and I am so proud of her homework efforts! This volcano is amazing and I can see just how much time has gone into it! £100 class cash Mads!
Class 5 have designed their own roller skates today like the ones Mrs Armitage has on in our class text. After the children shared which learning aliens they had been. We had some great drawings! Well done everyone we had a great afternoon.
thank you
