Today, Class 11 have been building even more knowledge about rocks. We tested the different types of rocks and the durability, permeability and many other aspects of them. We loved getting hands on and had a great time using sand paper and pipette’s.
In expedition, we have been carrying out a experiment to test seven different rocks in a number of different scenarios; chalk, sandstone, limestone, marble, slate, granite and basalt. We had to test the the hardness, durability, permeability and resistance to acid for each of the rocks and say whether or not they were suitable for certain scenarios before giving them a rating out of 5.
In maths this week, we have been looking at shape and geometry, more specifically triangles. We learnt that different triangles have different properties and began to sort them based on their properties. We then used art straws to create the different triangles; right-angled, equilateral, scalene and isosceles.
Today in Nursery we had so much fun exploring different vehicles and painting with them
I wonder what else we can paint with?
The first ks1 maths club this week was awesome ! We had children challenging themselves with different arithmetic activities, some children got to go on TT rockstars which is always enjoyed by everyone.
Well done everyone, can’t wait for next week! 😁
Well done to this week’s Star Readers. So many positive things to hear about your reading this week!
For the first time this term the new outdoor art club has had an amazing start. We took ourselves out onto the playground and practised creating patterns by rubbing different materials. We used concrete, wood, rubber, grass, brick and loads of different areas of the playground to find some awesome patterns. Then when we had finished we even discussed our favourite patterns and wondered what we could do with them next week…
Reuben loved it that much he went straight home and did some more in his own garden! I would love to see more pictures if anyone else has had a go at home 😀 Well done everyone -Miss Good
Good evening everyone. Today we have sent home a pack of activities for your children to complete. The phonics sounds and spellings will be sent weekly as usual but we have also included an expedition linked sheet with activities that could be worked on over the next term. Any questions please ask myself or Miss Schon.
Enjoy!
