We’ve had great fun today creating catapults to replicate the ones which the Romans used during battle!
I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of everyone in class 6 today as they performed a small act of kindness in our community by helping to pack shopping bags in our local Sainsbury’s store. The children walked sensibly in the beautiful late summer sunshine through Thorne, pointing out items of rubbish that could be recycled as they went. They were super polite to the shoppers who asked them to explain the reason they were there and the resounding answer was ‘TO BE KIND AND HELPFUL!’
A massive thank-you to all the parents who turned up to shop so the children had something to pack and to the wonderful staff at Sainsbury’s for allowing us to experience first-hand how lovely it feels to be able to help others when we can.
This afternoon, the children were able to take part in the Roman Olympics! We got to do some fun activities including Roman hurdles, bean bag shot put, chariot (wheelbarrow) racing and marathon running around the 3G pitch!
Year 4 had great fun in GBlock today turning dolly pegs into Roman soldiers! They were so careful and patient and created some fantastic, fearful looking soldiers!
We had lots of fun this afternoon taking part in some Roman sports! We marched like the Romans, practised our throwing, completed the Roman hurdles and even joined in some chariot racing!
In expedition today class 5 have been learning about Florence Nightingale “ the lady with the lamp”. They all worked collaboratively to make their own lamps. Great mornings work from everyone. 😊
Wow! We had so much fun today experiencing the rainforest using VR headsets! The children loved learning about the different species of animals that lived in the different layers and got up close to a variety of fabulous animals!
What an amazing experience with our VR Workshop this morning. We had a trip through the rainforest and met lots of different animals, face to face, including a giant tarantula! As well as exploring the Amazon we learnt some great facts! Did you know the Amazon is 55 million years old or that it is home to 2.5 million different species of insects?
In maths club today we have been looking at number bonds, partitioning numbers, missing numbers and adding numbers together. Well done everyone who came, you all smashed it! 😊
