Today we began preparing our Roman shields! We gave them a first coat of paint ready for decorating tomorrow!
In maths today, the children have been recapping place value. We played a place value game where children had to play against each other to create the largest and smallest numbers!
We’ve had a lovely afternoon creating swords and helmets ready for our Roman battle! Thank you to all the parents that braved the heat and managed not to melt! I was so impressed with everyone’s creativity and resilience because it was a tricky task making the swords! More pictures to follow!
During crew, we have been creating chalk outlines of ourselves and then writing what makes us unique inside of them.
We have started to prepare our shields ready for battle! The first step was to paint them a brilliant red! Tomorrow we will decorate them so watch out for the finished product!
In year 3 this morning we started the morning lesson off with shield painting linked to Roman expedition, can’t wait to see the finished product.
In crew this morning, we looked at what makes us unique. We drew around each other in chalk and filled in the bodies with all of the things that make us special!
We had a lovely walk out in the sun yesterday as we went to the woods. After learning about the layers and animals of the rainforest, we compared them to our local woods. We also saw the product that was created by previous students at Green Top.
I just had to share the loveliest photo of Matilda reading her bedtime story on National read a book day! Well done Matilda…what a lovely way to end your day 💚

It was very hot today during our pe lesson so we took it steady. We warmed up in the shade by doing some stretches and then we focused on stamina with some running and jogging activities, as well as some motor skills work by focusing on balancing and climbing on our playground equipment. The children completed the carousel of PE activities and we went inside for a huge drink of water!
Well done class 8
