Story time in class 6

WE had a lovely surprise visit this afternoon from Elise who came to read us a story as part of National Storytelling Week

Elise, who was in my class when she was in year 1, chose Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae. I wonder why?

Great choice Elise! And thank you so much for coming to visit. x

Crew Knowles: Character Traits

In our crew session this morning, we focused on looking at our Green Top character traits. We cut out all of our character trait statements and tried to match them back up to the correct headings: respect, courage, integrity, compassion, and quality and craftsmanship.

The discussions about each one and which character trait it could link to was amazing and I was blown away! Well done Crew Knowles!

Crew Knowles: National Storytelling Week

We’ve had a lovely start to National Storytelling Week today in Crew Knowles! We’ve read Chapter 4 and started Chapter 5 of our class text ‘The Last Bear’ and can’t wait to see what happens next! We also enjoyed the Y3 Learning Council coming to support our Accelerated Reader session and everyone was keen to show off their reading to them!

Crack the Code!

The Learning Council will be bringing the safe around between Tuesday 30th Jan and Friday 2nd Feb to see if anyone can crack the code!

Remember it is 50p a go – Good luck!

Class 6 Kixx

The bad weather didn’t stop us having a fantastic Kixx session in the Hall this afternoon. Coach Kyle commented on how well the children listened to instruction and that they blew him away with their excellent ball control.

There are still quite a few children without kit.

Please could you make sure that the correct kit is sent into school on Monday morning please?

Class 9 – comparing UK and Svalbard

The children loved this! They were able to really apply themselves in their groups to support each other in various ways, reading, language, vocabulary and understanding. It was lovely to see and hear the focused discussions around the room! Not all beautiful work is written down! Amazing work everyone.

They compared population, education, agriculture, travel, geographical location, weather and climate! Ask them at home,.see what they can tell you about their discoveries!

Class 9 – changes over time in Geography

The children were hard at work in various groups researching how Svalbard has changed over time in relation to human activity and the impact of climate change. The children were able to discuss and pull out all the facts and did a fantastic job supporting each other and sharing discussions.

Beautiful Work This Week

XP Festival of Learning 2024

The Staff Day in January saw the launch of our proposed teaching and learning model as part of our Festival of Learning. The event took place at XP Doncaster and was attended by staff from across all schools in the Trust. All staff had the opportunity to explore the model in more depth as well as attending other workshops on different parts of the model.

This is part of the Trust’s commitment to ensure that we expose more students to more impactful teaching more of the time.

Beautiful Curation: A Christmas Carol

There is now an awesome display at XP to celebrate the Christmas Carol Study Guide – the beautiful work of last year’s Year 11s. Be sure to go and admire their hard work on display!
