Nursery World Book Day 2024

Today t

Today the children in Nursery looked amazing in their World Book Day Costumes. It was lovely to see their excited faces this morning. Today the children spoke about their favourite stories in Crew, drew pictures of their favourite book or character and enjoyed looking at each others costumes.

Reminder- EYFS Celebration of Learning

We are excited to invite EYFS parents and carers to our Celebration of Learning from our current expedition ‘Once upon a time’ where the children will share their learning about ‘Who is hiding in the pages of the book?’ This will be on Wednesday 13th March at 1.30pm.

We will be performing songs and rhymes, showcasing beautiful work, sharing our ‘For the love of reading’ boards and presenting each child with their final product. Each child will receive a traditional tale with a QR code of their learning inside. We will be presenting these to other children and special guests from Thorne and Moorends. You will then be invited to take part in some of our learning experiences in the classrooms.

Baking play in Nursery

This week, the children have been learning about the role of a baker. The children have explored this in play using flour, pasta, lentils, mud, sand and water inside and in the mud kitchen. The children have had so much fun creating their own recipes for ‘rainbow buns’ and ‘angel bread’.

Gingerbread Men in Nursery

This morning the children worked really hard to follow instructions and talk about the story of the Gingerbread Man. We weighed, melted, mixed, combined, rolled and cut our ingredients and dough. Well done Nursery Crew!

Exploring the story of The Gingerbread Man in Nursery this week…

The children have had so much fun so far this week exploring the story of The Gingerbread Man. They have enjoyed creating life size paintings of the Gingerbread Man by drawing around our own bodies, retelling the story by looking carefully at the story book and acting as the little old man and woman who baked the Gingerbread Man in the mud kitchen. I wonder what tomorrow will bring…
