This week we have begun teaching phonics in Reception. The children have been really calm and engaged and produced some lovely letter formation of our first taught sounds. They are such grown up boys and girls now.
Well done everyone! Grown ups…. Check out the EYFS Extended Study tab on the school website to learn more about phonics and our weekly phonics homework to support your child.
Today we had our first Counting Collection session. We counted out the boxes to 5 and made sure we had the right amount. The children were very interested…….I think there will be lots more exploration to come.
We had a wonderful First Community Crew session this week! It was fantastic to see the children singing so beautifully together in the hall for the first time – such a lovely moment of unity and joy.
The children have also started giving shout-outs to their crew members, celebrating those who have been showing fantastic HOWLs (Habits of Work and Learning) throughout the week. It’s been heartwarming to see their support and encouragement for one another.
A big well done to Clementine and Albie, our HOWL point winners this week! They’ve consistently demonstrated kindness, worked hard, and shown a real commitment to getting smart, a brilliant effort from both of you.
And finally, a huge congratulations to Israel, who has been named Crew Wallace’s Crew Champion this week. Well done, Israel, a truly well-deserved recognition!
Today, our Reception children and staff enjoyed the most amazing Water Day! It was a fantastic opportunity to take some time out and simply have fun together as a team.
Our outdoor area was transformed into a series of exciting water play stations, including water pistols, bubbles, sponge games, water balls, and even sprinklers to dance under. The laughter was contagious, and although we all ended up absolutely soaked, the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all.
It was a joyful day filled with laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. Look out for the video of the day coming soon!
One of the children in my class has lost a red superhero coat. He last had it on Wednesday morning. Please would you check your child’s bag to make sure it has not been brought home by accident?
We had the privilege of having storytime in our lovely new library space today. We were thinking carefully about how we can look after this special space and we really enjoyed the story chosen by one of Crew Wallace.
We will definitely be back soon for more storytime.
As this has been our First Week Back as a full Reception Crew we have been really focussed on Crew building and spending time together. Yesterday we had the treat of making some yummy pizzas with Mr Kershaw and it was fabulous.
Not only did we get to work together but we got to eat lovely pizza treats too.
We are delighted to invite all parents and carers of children in Reception to our welcome meeting on Monday 15th September from 5.00pm – 6.00pm in the school hall (please use the hall door entrance).
This meeting will be a wonderful opportunity to meet the reception teaching team and to hear more about the exciting year of learning ahead. The meeting will cover many things including phonics, visits and Assessment in the early years. . We can answer any questions that you may have and explore the year ahead together.
Most importantly, this will be a chance to learn about routines and expectations in Reception, and to see how home and school can work together to make this a positive, successful and enjoyable year for every child. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the exciting journey ahead!
