Crew Jackson – Friction investigation

This morning we spent time building our background knowledge about friction before carrying out an investigation. The children worked in groups to explore which surface had the most and least amount of friction; this was done by testing how far a toy car travelled on different surfaces. Well done everyone – you all impressed me your ability to explain your results using scientific language. I can’t wait to see the science reports your produce based on today’s lesson. #OgdenTrust

Crew Jackson – We are scientists!

This morning, we applied our knowledge about water resistance to draw conclusions after carrying out our investigation. Well done everyone – not only do you all use scientific language in your explanations but you managed not to spill the water all over your books! x

Crew Jackson – Building up our vocabulary

This morning, in our reading lesson we explored the new vocabulary in this week’s text. Using dictionaries we found the definitions of new words and used the skill of reading the word in context to explore others. Finally, we completed some find and copy questions which further extended our knowledge of vocabulary. Well done everyone – great work.

Crew Jackson – Air resistance Investigation

This morning, we applied the knowledge we explored how parachute size effected the length of time it took to reach the ground. Everyone was able to use the background knowledge they built on air resistance to draw conclusions and explain use scientific language. Well done guys – great work.

Crew Jackson – Excellent English learning

Well done everyone on a fantastic English lesson today. You analysed the model text so well and confidently identified the criteria for writing a good science report, considering layout, vocabulary,, sentence types, punctuation and grammatical features. I am so proud of you all for your hard work.

Crew Jackson – Exploring gravity

This morning, we began our case study on forces. First, we built up our background knowledge on forces and gravity using videos, discussion and reading facts around the room. Then we explored what happens when we drop two identical bottles containing different amounts of water. The children were surprised to discover that they hit the ground at the same time – despite many attempts to prove the theory wrong!

Well done everyone – you all worked so hard in our double expedition lesson today! #Ogdentrust
