Solving Problems!

We have had a classroom full of Connecting Connie’s and Light Bulb Leo’s today in Maths!

The children have been working collaboratively together to solve worded problems with addition and subtraction.

I wonder…can you solve this problem using the grid method (tens and ones) in your homework books for extra housepoints and a biscuit.

Miss Salter has got 78 pumpkins for her Halloween party.

She gives 45 pumpkins to Mr Butler.

How many does she have left?

When handing in your homework book, let Mrs Faulding and Mrs Burton know so that we can check the answer!

Good luck!

Freya has been getting creative!

So impressed by Freya’s homemade bird feeder! It’s amazing! Fingers crossed we can put it in our quad area outside the classroom and see if we get many birds visiting us (if that’s ok with Freya’s grown ups?).

Well done sweetie- 20 housepoints for this brilliant piece of home learning!

Super Learners in Year 2- Time to get ahead ready for our new learning in maths next week! Multiplication and Division!!

Also, here’s a super catchy song to recap on what we were looking at in our SPaG starter today! I want to hear you humming it next time you’re writing to help you remember!

Class 7 have got writing fever!

Class 7 have been working incredibly hard to plan and write their own short stories about an animal, just like our class text ‘Rainbow Fish’.

Their plans are full of exciting ideas and interesting adjectives so I cannot wait to read their final touchdowns!

A huge well done to everyone on trying so hard on our first writing touchdown of the year. As you can see from the photos, everyone is focused ensuring that they include all of our important features!

Keep it up, you’ve all had a great start to Year 2!

FABULOUS Home Learning!

Well done to these three superstars on their amazing home learning this week!

Oscar has worked hard at home to create his very own snappy croc! Thankfully, Croc wasn’t feeling very hungry so we are all still here! Phew!

Erin has been busy making her under the sea sensation, full of different sea creatures and even real shells from the beach! It’s so beautiful!

Finally, Ronnie has been sharing her experience down at the local allotment with our class, showing photos of the turkey’s, the ducks and the bee house. Ronnie has to wear a special suit when working closely to the bees! Thank you Ronnie for also bringing in some real turkey feathers to enhance our classroom with (I’ll not mention the foxes tail! 😱)! And to top it off, she’s been awarded Star of the Week at dancing too. Wow!

Keep up the brilliant, hard work guys! You can all have 20 house points!!
