Super Deforestation Model!

This week, Keira and Sophie have spent time creating this amazing model, demonstrating the effects of deforestation and forest fires. I am super impressed with the time and effort they have both put into it. Well done girls, keep up the good work!

Life Cycle of a Plant

In expedition this week, we have been looking at the life cycle of a plant and working our way through a number of different activities. We have looked at the pollination process and studied how each part of the plant plays its own role in the reproduction process. The children also enjoyed dissecting a lily and looking at the different parts up close.

Crew Norms!

In crew this week, we have been establishing our crew norms and class expectations. The children generated their ideas and before discussing them together as a crew.

Super Homework!

Over the past week, Sophie has made a great start on her homework menu. She has produced her own booklet and written a super fact file on chimpanzees! It would be great to see more of the same from all of Crew Taylor. Keep up the fabulous work Sophie!

Out of this World!

Here are the children who have received ‘Out of this World’ in the opening weeks of the school year. You have all done fantastically well and each one of them has been thoroughly deserved. Keep up the great work!

Balanced Arguments

Today we have been making a start on writing our balanced arguments. We have been looking at whether or not Michael, the main character in ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom,’ should have left his home to go and live on a boat at sea. It has been great to read some of the fantastic starts they have made.

Multiplying and Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000

In maths today the children have looking at multiplying and dividing decimal numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. Working collaboratively, they have been taking on a number of different challenges relating to reasoning and problem solving. They are getting more and more confident by the day!

Reading Task

Today in English, we have reading more of our class text, ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom.’ The children have been studying the text and retrieving information to help them answer comprehension questions. They have all done really well and are showing promising signs in their understanding. Keep up the good work!

UK vs Brazil

In our expedition lessons this week, we have been looking at a comparison between the United Kingdom and Brazil. We have discussed how the different climate and physical features of each country affect the way in which the people living there behave. The children have been working collaboratively and making comparisons between the two countries.

The Daily Mile…let’s do this!!!

Today, Year 6 started their day off right!!! We’ve reintroduced the daily mile in to our day as part of our crew sessions.

We want to promote those healthy lifestyles and increase our heart rates after such a long time off from school. After lockdown, we have discussed the positives from running the daily mile such as boosting our mental health, reducing child obesity and giving people the freedom back to exercise outside and be free.

Well done everyone! You all tried really hard and took it at your own pace. We are excited for tomorrow’s daily mile!
