Swimming next week is safety and survival week! Your child will need to bring their normal swimming things plus extra clothes. Clothes can be things such as old pyjamas or a normal tshirt and shorts or leggings. Nothing to heavy please so no jean items and no hoodies or onsies.
I would also send an extra plastic bag for the children to put their wet clothes in.
Thank you
This morning, the class have been getting their hands dirty with some den building down in the woods! They had to build the best available shelter before testing its effectiveness by having a bucket of water thrown over the top of it!
During the afternoon, the class split in half to practise some different survival skills. Before starting, we went to the woods to collect our firewood. Some children practised starting a fire using a flint and steel, whilst the other half cooked food over the open fire. We were even able to eat some cooked nettles!
Some images from our hot chocolate and smores from around the campfire!
This evening, the children have enjoyed a couple of hours at the local park. It was lovely to see so many of them enjoying the swings, playing football and seeing how fast they could go on the zipline!
Tea is served at Austerfield!
This afternoon, the classes swapped over and completed their second activity of the day.
Class 13 – Orienteering
Class 12 – Team Games
Here are some photographs from the much anticipated lunch time!
Everyone has arrived at Austerfield and got themselves set up ready for the camp later on tonight!
Class 13 have started the morning with some team games. We have had to work as a team to get the hoop around the circle, pass the ping pong ball along the drain pipe and make our way across the river!
Class 12 have been working on their map skills during their orienteering session.
