Extended Study – World Read Aloud Day! (5th February)

Today is World Read Aloud Day. To celebrate this, as well as National Storytelling Week, why don’t you spend some time reading one of your favourite books out loud!

You could read it to a grown up, a sibling, a friend, you could even read it to your favourite teddy!

Take a picture to share with us at school for our reading display – you can even email it to [email protected]

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of you enjoying your favourite stories!

Reception Phonics

For the last two weeks we have been consolidating our learning in phonics. We have been practising our new digraphs, our red words and beginning to construct and write sentences.

Below are the sounds that we need to keep practising. If your child has not received their reading books yet, it may be because the contract that was sent out still needs to be signed. Unfortunately, until this is signed we can’t give new books out. The link for this is below.

If you need support with this, please ask a member of the F2 Team.

Thanks

Reception Phonics

This week in Phonics we have been covering the following sounds. The sounds will be sent out for the children to be practising to recognise the digraph, say the digraph and then write the grapheme.

The children are really starting to learn and retain those sounds but will need support to blend those sounds together. Have a go at the green words and the more they hear those sounds being blended the easier it will become. There is a sentence to read on the bottom of the sheet also. Reading this and also reading the reading books that the children now have will all help to increase and improve the children’s fluency in their reading.

Thanks

Mrs Wallace and Mrs Jones.

Reception Reading books*Please read*

Reading book google form

I know that many parents are aware that we are changing how we are supporting children with their reading, moving forward. Please read the attached letter and complete the google form above.

As soon as a parent has signed the google form to say that they agree, your child will come home with their set of reading books, which will be changed on a Friday from now on.

In the meantime, please don’t worry that you don’t have school books over the weekend because any books that you read will count towards your school reading challenge.

Thank you for your support with this change

Extended Study – New Year Pledges!

What are your New Year pledges? Is there anything you want to work on this year?

To welcome in the New Year, our next Extended Study challenge is to create New Years pledges, posters or kindness stones that we can display around school.

Next week, Crew Councillors will be completing these and presenting in Crew time as examples for you to use.

Keep an eye out for the blog for examples! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
