Extended Study – VE DAY!

On the 8th May, it is the 80th anniversary of VE DAY!

What do you know about this memorable day?

Create your own war theme poster celebrating the occasion using some of the ideas below:

Why not have a go at writing your own diary entry from the perspective of a soldier fighting in the war.

You could even have a go at learning a VE day themed celebratory dance – we’d love to see your photographs and videos

Remember to bring in your completed work to show in Crew by Monday 5th May!

Reception Phonics

This week in Phonics we have been covering the following sound. The sounds will be sent out for the children to be practising to recognise the digraph, say the digraph and then write the grapheme.

The children are really starting to learn and retain those sounds but will need support to blend those sounds together. Have a go at the green words and the more they hear those sounds being blended the easier it will become. There is a sentence to read on the bottom of the sheet also. Reading this and also reading the reading books that the children now have will all help to increase and improve the children’s fluency in their reading.

Thanks

Mrs Wallace and Mrs Jones.

Extended Study – World Art Day!

World Art Day is a day dedicated to creating and celebrating all types of artwork.

By celebrating World Art Day, it is hoped that this will encourage creativity, teach people about different artists and share a love for art all over the world.

It is celebrated each year, on 15th April, which is believed to be the birthday of the world famous artist, Leonardo da Vinci.

How many famous artists do you know?

Activity: Cubism colouring

Cubism is an art movement that shows people or objects from lots of angles at the same time. It often makes the artwork look broken up or like it is made from cubes.

Pablo Picasso and the artist George Braque invented Cubism as a new form of art.

Have a go at creating your own cubist artwork with an object from your home by drawing it from many angles or print and colour the cubist guitar below.

Bring your completed artwork to share in crew next week!
