Can you think of a fact about Lincoln Castle?

  1. Seths fact – there used to be a jester at the castle and when he told a joke if the king didn’t like it he would make a dolly pop up and say it was the dolly that told the joke.

  2. Lola Craig’s fact – the battlements on the castle was where bows and arrows were aimed from. They aimed through the gaps in the battlements and hid behind the wall.

  3. Faiths fact. There was a big banquet table and they used to tell jokes around the table and have big meals and invite people who did good jobs ☺️

  4. Ruby’s fact- if you were fighting on the same team you would all have the same pattern on your shield.

  5. Max’s fact. There once was a portcullis at the castle that they dropped when being attacked.

  6. Oliver’s fact – there’s a wild boar’s head on the banqueting table. And all around it was fruit and salad to make it look special and posh. They drunk beer and wine. Whilst they were eating the jester entertained them by saying jokes.

  7. Lincoln Castle was built in 1068 by William the Conqueror. It was a prison for over 700 years. Lincoln Castle has big walls, and we can walk around the walls of the castle. There are beautiful views of the Cathedral and the city. In the Guard Tower, there is a stair way the prison. If someone escapes, they get put in the dungeon.

  8. Dexter’s fact
    Bows and arrows and cannons are used to shoot out of the gaps in the castle walls. The knights shot cannons and their bow and arrows to stop the enemies getting close to the castle.

  9. Sarah Parsonage

    Jessica’s facts are that Lincoln castle is a stone castle with cannons to keep out enemies. Jessica said she saw a graveyard there too.

  10. Brooklyns-fact.The knights use to hide in the windows & shoot anyone who tried to get in with there bow and Arrows

    Lincoln Castle was built over 1000 years ago, and prisoners held Within the castle jail had to pay for their keep.
