Pre-Covid the children enjoyed sharing their love of books by visiting the local old people’s home and reading to the residents. What a fabulous way to share our love of reading with the local community.
In Year 1 the children enjoy taking home the class giraffes Juicy and Jemima and reading books with them before bedtime.
Our KS2 lending libraries are recently relaunched and are proving very successful with children selecting books to take home and read for pleasure. Children are able to celebrate their love of reading by making recommendations to their peers and celebrating reading successes in crew sessions.
In F2 we always want to show off our new phonics skills by reading at every opportunity we get. Even on the coach on the way home from our school trip!
In November 2019 we held a book sale in school. Children and staff donated unwanted books that other children could purchase for just 20p. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be able to access books for pleasure. Kaleb and Lily were really pleased with their new books!
Pre-covid KS1 parents were invited in to read with the children in a morning as part of their weekly welcome to the day activities.
There is nothing better than finding a comfy spot to read a book or share a book with a friend. We love to read anywhere!
We celebrate our love of reading in KS1 phase crew assemblies with prizes and certificates.
Every year we celebrate World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite story characters.
