The children have been working super hard in phonics over the past few weeks both with their normal lessons and with their phonics screening checks. It has been lovely to see all the progress made so far this year.
In Miss Cooper’s group the children have been consolidating the newest sounds they have learned. We have seen some super skills being shown in their word reading!

In Miss Rodgers and Mrs Clay’s group the children have been learning alternative pronunciation and spellings for graphemes. The children have been learning to check words carefully to ensure they have read them correctly now that they know a variety of different phonemes and graphemes.

In Miss Schon’s group the children have really been impressing me with the range of graphemes they can spot in words and also the alternative sounds the grapheme’s can make. The speed in which they have been working in both reading and spelling has improved greatly. It has been lovely to hear the children reading so much more confidently in their Shared Reading sessions this week.
