What another fabulous day we have had in Year 6! Firstly, we have collaborated on establishing our crew norms by thinking about how our classroom should look, feel and sound like if we are working hard, being kind and getting smart.
After playtime we buddied up with some Y11’s at XP East for a hangout. They told us all about what it is like to go to secondary school, answering lots of the children’s questions and easing any anxieties they may have around the transition from primary school. We hope to catch up with our new friends again later this term.
For the rest of the morning, the children wrote letters to themselves about what they want to achieve by the end of Year 6. The children all thought really carefully about their own personal goals and aspirations – considering their HOWLs, character growth, crew, SATs, academic success and beautiful work. After they finished, they were sealed in envelopes addressed to themselves and put away to save for the end of the year. The children will get to open and read them again in July and see the progress they have made and how successful they have been towards achieving their goals.
We finished the day by working collaboratively on digital escape rooms. Both myself and Mrs Rayner were impressed with their problem solving and communication skills.
Well done everyone – a great day! I can’t wait for Austerfield and our camp out tomorrow.
