Geographical Zones

Today we did some research on the different geographical zones of the Earth. We looked at the equator, the hemispheres, the tropics and longitude and latitude! We learnt lots of new vocabulary in relation to our expedition! We also worked collaboratively to collect and share information.

Fabulous fractions!

Crew Knowles looked at fractions today and focused on concerting mixed and improper fractions. I was incredibly impressed with how quickly they picked up the different skills! I was also impressed with how well each group worked collaboratively to support each other!

Learning Legends

I chose two Learning Legends today – Emily and Amelia!

Amelia has put lots of effort in to her zentangle art work and Emily has pushed herself out of her comfort zone by contributing lots of answers! Well done girls!

Zentangle fun!

Crew Knowles have continued with our sun, moon and stars slice today and we have looked more closely at the different phases of the moon. After we looked at the phases, we then chose one to draw and decorated it using zentangle patterns. They took lots of time and patience!

Team building

Crew Knowles worked on their collaboration skills today but taking part in the crew team building challenge. They had to work together to create a bridge using art straws and other materials such as string and tape. I am excited to try out the bridges tomorrow and test their ability to hold weight!

Wonderful Whiteboards

It was lovely to see Crew Knowles utilising the classroom today and enjoying using the various whiteboards we have around the room to work on their rounding skills!

A Starry Night

As part of our sun, moon and stars slice, Crew Knowles used oil pastels to recreate Vincent Van Gogh’s picture of A Starry Night. We split the original picture in to 15 pieces and each crew member recreated their small piece which then made up the bigger picture! I can’t wait for the finished result!

A great start for Crew Knowles!

Crew Knowles have had a great start the past two days! Yesterday we acted out the movements of the sun and moon and today we made collages of a beautiful sunrise!
