A collaborative kind of day!

We have done lots of different collaborative activities today both in English and Expedition! In English we looked at the different types of nouns and the children moved around the room adding to each sheet with examples.

In Expedition, we looked at climate change and tried to answer some difficult questions about the effects of climate change as well as the difference between weather and climate!

Awesome AJ

AJ has been one of our recent Learning Legends due to his sheer perseverance and determination to take his time with his art work and all of the detail he could. His work took two days to complete but he was determined to keep the same high standard until the very end.

Perfect predictions!

Today Crew Knowles were introduced to their new class text – Kenzuke’s Kingdom! Each group were given the front cover a piece at a time and had to predict what they thought the book would be about. We had lots of adventurous predictions and each group used the images well to back up their predictions!

Plastic Pollution

As part of out expedition ‘How can we help the world we live in?’ we looked at plastic pollution. We were shocked at just how bad the problem is and again were very moved by the poor animals that suffer because we don’t look after our environment. We created some sea creatures and illustrated the animals using images of the different plastic that ruins their habitats.

News Reports

Crew Knowles looked at deforestation and the devastating effects it has on the environments. We were particularly touched by the animals that suffer due to the consequences of deforestation. Here you can see the children putting together news reports to report on the Amazon Rainforest fires.

Lovely art work!

We spent the day today looking at deforestation and the devastating effects it has on our environments. To wrap up our learning this afternoon, we did some lovely art work of Koalas – an animal that was hugely affected during the Australian bush fires.

Learning Legend!

Richard was our Learning Legend today for his AMAZING knowledge of geography! He was confident with all of the continents as well as recognising the different countries in North and South America! I was truly blown away!

Map Reading!

Today Crew Knowles have been focusing on reading maps and looking at North and South America. We sorted through countries and used the maps to locate which continent they were in. We also looked at matching cities to their countries – a very tricky task! I was absolutely blown away with the motivation, the perseverance to read maps and the knowledge that the children already had about the different continents / countries!

Learning Legends!

Today’s Learning Legends are … Archie and Oliver!

Oliver is today’s Learning Legend as he was a real Stickability Stan when writing his English blast off!

Archie is also today’s Learning Legend as he is showing lots of maturity and his work is beautifully presented!

The Water Cycle

We had lots of fun today recreating the water cycle in a sandwich bag! We will watch our water cycles carefully over the course of the term to see them in action!
