The children created poppy art today for Remembrance Day using paint, sponges, cardboard, leaves and tissue paper. Together as a class, we then collaborated and produced our own metaphor poem. This is how it goes…
The children used play dough to roll, twist, poke and pinch to build up their muscles in their fingers ready for writing. The children then practised writing the grapheme ‘b’ linked to our phonics rhyme this week ‘BINGO’.
I wonder can you practise singing this rhyme at home? Say the phoneme ‘b’ and have a go at writing the grapheme? This could be in sand, glitter, on paper, with paint, crayons or chalk.
Today has been full of colour and music in Nursery.
The children have celebrated Diwali by listening to the story Chapatti Moon, colouring Rangoli Patterns, making Diva lamps and dancing with scarves and bangles to Indian music. Such a wonderful day.
The children have loved playing in the leaves in the nursery garden this week. They have been jumping in piles of leaves, making pictures and hedgehog houses.
Next week, on Wednesday 13th November the EYFS children would like to invite their grown-ups (maximum 2 per child) to their presentation of learning for our Expedition ‘How do we show we care?’.
The Ash Tree Road entrance will be open from 1.45 pm for grown-ups to get refreshments before the children come through. Children will then come to the hall to share their learning with you. The children cannot wait for you to see all their hard work!
Please can children come to school in their smart/party clothes.
The children have spent yesterday and this morning talking about and exploring Bonfire Night. We have played instruments listened to the sounds they make to mimic the sound of a firework. We have talked about what fireworks look like. The children thought of excellent words to describe the appearance and sounds.
We have painted fireworks in the night sky, crafted tissue paper sparklers and built/painted bonfires and danced with scarves to Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’.
The children finished off the morning by talking about how we can stay safe on bonfire night. I was so proud of how well the children retained information and were able to listen carefully to each other.
I hope you have a wonderful and safe bonfire night tonight.
The children have had a lovely morning creating their own edible sparklers using breadsticks, chocolate and different sprinkles. I think you can tell they were enjoyed by all!
The children had a wonderful time during the last week of half term at the Autumn disco. Lots of fun, sweets, awesome dance moves, laughter and hot dogs. What more could we want? Mr Kershaw and I also enjoyed having a boogie to ‘Time Warp’ which so many of the children were excellent at too!
